SSWD is governed by a five member Board of Directors.
Directors are elected to serve four year terms (three Directors elected in one election and two during the
next election). Elections are in even numbered years.

Thomas Fellenz was elected to the Sacramento Suburban Water District in 2006. He is Deputy Chief Counsel for the State Department of Transportation where he has practiced law for 15 years and civil engineering for 11 years.
Mr. Fellenz earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from UC Davis and a law degree from McGeorge School of Law. He has lived in the District for 15 years and currently resides in Sacramento with his wife and two children.

Steve Hanson was elected to the Arcade Water District Board in 2000 and served through the 2002 consolidation with Northridge Water District to become a Sacramento Suburban Water District Board Member until December 2002. He was also elected to the Arcade and American River Fire Districts, serving from 1992 through 2000.
Steve is a former Fire Fighter/E.M.T. and currently works for Folsom Cordova Unified School District as a utility worker, he is also a nursing student at American River College.
Steve served honorably in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He and his wife Violet have lived in the Arden/Arcade area of the District for 42 years.

Ken Decio has served on the Sacramento Suburban Water District Board since December 2004. He is currently employed at the California Integrated Waste Management Board, a state agency that encourages Californians to reduce waste, maximize existing recycling, and reuse efforts while ensuring that products are designed for the environment and have the potential to be repaired, reused, or recycled.
Ken lives in carmichael with his wife Mistee, two daughters Natalie and Sofia, and their dogs Rexie and Cookie.

Neil W. Schild

Neil W. Schild was elected as a Board Member for Division 2 of the Sacramento Suburban Water District in 2004 and 2008. Neil is a Professional Engineer currently employed by MWH, Americas. He is currently managing projects that involve environmental restoration.
Director Schild serves on the Sacramento Groundwater Authority and is an alternate on the Regional Water Authority. He continues to serve on the Finance and Audit Committee for SSWD. He is also involved with other SSWD activities such as the Ad Hoc Water Master Plan Committee providing policy oversight for the District's long-term master plan and Ad Hoc Conjunctive Use Planning Committee providing guidance on the use of surface and groundwater by SSWD customers. In 2008, Director Schild is also serving as the President of the SSWD Board of Directors.
Mr. Schild worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation in Denver and Sacramento. He retired from the Bureau in 1993 after 34 years of service. Mr. Schild worked primarily in the water and power operations and maintenance fields during that tenure. He retired as the Deputy Regional Director for the Mid-Pacific Region of the Bureau.
He holds a BS degree in Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University. Neil and his wife Arlis moved to Sacramento in 1972, raised four children and have lived in the District since that time.
