With the changing of the seasons, it's time to make adjustments to your outdoor watering schedule. Cooler temperatures, shorter daylight hours and moisture from fog and rain all combine to reduce the water demands of a typical landscape. Often little,if any, irrigation is needed.
Outdoor watering adjustments include:
- Adjust irrigation times to gradually reduce outdoor watering frequency. As the weather cools, reset your timers to water two days or less per week. During the rainy season, often no additional irrigation is needed.
- When watering manually, do not water more than two days per week. During the rainy season, often no additional irrigation is needed.
- Be sure to turn your irrigation off when it is raining. Install a rain sensor: it stops your automatic irrigation system from watering when it rains.
- Renters, if you are not responsible for the outside irrigation, remind the property owner or landlord to make seasonal adjustments.
Thank you for being water efficient with your outdoor watering. Remember: water with the weather!
