IRS Taxable Income Requirement

  • All customers participating in our rebate program are required to fill out and submit an IRS tax form W-9 with their rebate application.  The W-9 and associated information is attached to the rebate application.
  • The IRS considers rebate funds received for water conservation upgrades as miscellaneous income.
  • SSWD will send you a Form 1099 to comply with IRS reporting requirements at the end of the year if the total amount of rebate funding you receive meets or exceeds the IRS Misc. Income standard.
  • Whether your rebate is actually taxable or not may depend on several variables. You should consult with your tax professional for advice on your particular situation because SSWD is not able to provide such advice.
