Toilet Rebate Program - Funds are currently available

SSWD offers its customers rebates on high-efficiency toilets (HET). Residential and multi-family customers may be eligible to receive up to $175 for an HET. Commercial customers may be eligible to receive up to $200 for a commercial HET.

Water guzzling toilets account for the largest amount of water use inside a typical residential home. By replacing your high flush toilet with a 1.28 gpf toilet, you can save up to gallons 18,000 gallons of water per year. That’s enough water to fill a swimming pool!

The most recent “Maximum Performance Testing of Popular Toilet Models” (MaP) report, dated April 2009, is available to assist you with your buying decision. A MaP report is available for High Efficiency (HET), 1.28 gpf toilets.

Clothes Washer Rebate Program - Funds are currently available

SSWD customers may be eligible for a rebate of $50 and you may get up to $125 from your energy company for the purchase and installation of a qualified high efficiency washing machine. To obtain a rebate, customers must complete a Water-Wise House Call. This service has no direct cost to you.

Please review the following items to obtain a rebate for your new washer:

• Go to www.smud.org or contact SMUD customer service at 1-888-742-SMUD (7683) to obtain the SMUD application or to check the status of your rebate.
• Click for a list of the most current qualified of eligible clothes washers. www.cee1.org

1. You must purchase a qualified clothes washer between January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010 (or until each water service provider's program funds are depleted). Each application is processed on a first come, first served basis and your water provider, the Regional Water Authority and SMUD reserve the right to change the terms of this program at any time.
2. Submit a completed two page rebate application form, within 30 days of installing your clothes washer via mail to the SMUD address provided. You will need to submit the following items:
   1. Front page of the application form completed.
   2. Copy of recent water service bill (within the past 6 months) for the address where installed.
   3. Copy of purchase receipt dated after January 1, 2010.
3. Submitting a signed application represents agreement to have your water provider verify installation of the clothes washer, with your accompaniment. Your water provider (or their representative) may schedule an inspection.

Note: Only certain clothes washer models are qualified for the pilot rebate program. We recommend you print and shop from the list of qualified products on Page 3 of the Rebate Application. The high efficiency machine eligible for this program are rated as "Tier 3B" by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency ( www.cee1.org) as having a Water Factor of 5.5 or less.
