Don’t Miss Your Chance to Star in Water Efficiency Campaign
Do you have a beautiful, water-efficient garden? Then, you have a chance to star in a new water efficiency advertising campaign sponsored by the Regional Water Authority (RWA) and Sacramento Suburban Water District (SSWD).
The campaign will showcase Sacramento-area residents who have earned their “Blue Thumb” by having a beautiful landscape that is water efficient too. They’ll be pictured in their own garden talking about how they use water wisely outdoors through every-day tasks such as adjusting their irrigation system according to the season, making sure sprinklers water the lawn instead of the sidewalk or using a shut-off valve on their hose.
RWA and SSWD invites residents to nominate themselves, a neighbor or someone they know who has a beautiful, water-efficient landscape to be showcased in the campaign’s radio and television advertising. A water-wise landscape uses efficient irrigation, seasonal scheduling and efficient design to ensure water is not wasted. While a garden full of native or drought-tolerant plants is a plus, the campaign will highlight every-day best practices people use to keep their landscape both water wise and beautiful.
The campaign is focusing on landscape water efficiency because most use—and water waste—occurs outdoors. Making sure landscape irrigation is efficient and eliminating water waste outdoors are two of the most cost-effective ways to stretch limited water supplies and ensure sufficient water supply remains available for the Sacramento region to prosper.
